Vermont recently passed legislation to mandate labeling of genetically engineered foods, following labeling bills passing in Connecticut and Maine. New Jersey legislation to require labels for GMO foods is stalled in the Assembly Consumer Affairs Committee and Senate Health Committee.
These bills are stuck due to the influence of lobbyists who meet with legislators on behalf of companies like Monsanto and Walmart. It’s time our legislators meet with those who care about what we eat, people like you! We need to have a strong showing in Trenton to help move these bills out of committee.
GMO Labeling activists are planning to have a presence in the state house and a number of one-on-one meetings with legislators, and we need you to join us! Feel free to bring friends.
