Food, Farms and the Environment: Tying It All Together in New Jersey

May 10, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

In the 2015 Locavore Index, a ranking of states’ commitment to local food production, New Jersey ranked 39th out of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. (New Jersey even ranked lower than the 33rd-ranked Alaska!) Why is the Garden State in this position? Should something happen to disrupt our food supply chains, could New Jersey feed itself? Can the Garden State utilize its available farm land to feed its citizens sustainably? How can we increase the number of NJ food-producing farms and strengthen the connection between organic food production, sustainable farming practices and the environment?

Learn about the Regional Foodshed Resiliency Plan that addresses these issues and more at the meeting of the Blairstown Enhancement Committee. All are welcome and the event is free.
