Strengthening our Food System: Food Hubs, “Growing” Farmers, Food Policy and More
January 31, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The Foodshed Alliance is presenting this workshop at the 2016 NOFA-NJ Winter Conference.
In the 2015 Locavore Index, a ranking of states’ commitment to local food production, New Jersey ranked 39th out of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. (New Jersey even ranked lower than the 33rd-ranked Alaska!) Why is the Garden State in this position? Should something happen to disrupt our food supply chains, could New Jersey feed itself? How can we increase the number of NJ food-producing farms and strengthen the connection between organic food production, sustainable farming practices and the environment? Learn about the Regional Foodshed Resiliency Plan that addresses these issues as well as updates on developing a food hub in NJ.
NOFA-NJ’s 26th Annual Winter Conference is being held on January 30-31, 2016, at the Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, NJ. You must register for the conference to attend this workshop. For registration information, click here.
