Food Hub Feasibility Meeting

February 25, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

food hub_edited-2Round one of our feasibility research at Crystal Springs in Sussex County was a great success and we have been able to gather a lot of helpful information. The steering committee has decided to hold a number of these discussions throughout the area in order to capture as many people as we can in the process as we go. The next meeting will be in Morris County at the Alexander Hamilton School, 24 Mills Street, Morristown, on February 25th from 6 to 8pm.
We are calling all local farmers, aspiring food and beverage entrepreneurs, and aspiring entrepreneurs who deal with agricultural products in any way, shape or form. We want to hear from you!

The Foodshed Alliance is working on a feasibility study to ascertain the interest, desire and potential scope of an incubator/hub concept aimed at stimulating entrepreneurship in the Northern New Jersey area. There are currently no food hubs in the state of New Jersey. This represents a huge opportunity for our state, as it would allow many farms to expand their direct-to-consumer sales to include intermediated sales channels. It would also give value-added food vendors the opportunity for additional sales.

Please join us for a round table discussion at Alexander Hamilton School (24 Mills Street, Morristown) on Thursday, February 25th at  6 pm.
Ben del Coro, Foodshed Alliance board member and Founder/Manager of the Sparta Farmers’ Market and Jim Thaller, Managing Director of Tallier Trading Group as well as Senior Agribusiness Advisor at the World Bank will lead the discussion.

Please share with anyone who you think would like to be there, could benefit from being there or could share useful information!  It would be helpful to have an RSVP to kendrya@foodshedalliance.org.  Thank you!
