Keep Farmers Farming: Addressing Land Access Challenges

November 30 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

$20

New Jersey has some of the highest real estate values in the nation, but also boasts some of the best soils and access to markets for farmers. New Jersey is not alone in facing these challenges and using the successes and lessons learned from other states, we can develop a plan of action to do more to support a dwindling agricultural industry.

Holly Rippon-Butler from the National Young Farmers Coalition will describe a menu of resources, tools and strategies that planning professionals, Agriculture Development Board members, and land conservation professionals can use to retain working farmland and make farmland affordable for the next generation of farmers. She will share case studies showing how the tools and strategies work. Attendees will participate in a round table discussion about specific needs and challenges faced in NJ and recommend next steps for action.

The workshop was organized in partnership with the New Jersey Land Trust Network, Foodshed Alliance and Monmouth Conservation Foundation.
