The Paulins Kill Watershed Community, a program of Foodshed Alliance, is partnering with Stroud Water Research Center and organizations across the Delaware River watershed to better understand how road salt affects our waterways.
As part of the multistate Salt Snapshot initiative, volunteers will collect stream samples to measure chloride and conductivity. The data will help create a detailed map of salt concentrations across the region and inform efforts to protect water quality.
Why it matters
Road salt can degrade drinking water, corrode infrastructure, and harm streams, lakes, and wildlife. Your participation helps us gather the local data needed to better understand these impacts and promote safer, more balanced salting practices.
